What is the purpose of my eyebrows? Are they there to keep me extra warm? Maybe they are there to be a shelter For an ant who’s passing in a storm What is the purpose of my eyebrows? Are they there so I can paint them green Then I am a little closer to being a wild monster And I have a great excuse for being mean Fuzzy fuzzy little strips of hair I’m so curious why it is you’re there Like two islands stranded in the middle of the sea Which is my face So what is the purpose of my eyebrows? Maybe they are there to be a clue Then when I am sad or happy Mad or glad or extra zappy You will know because of what my eyebrows do But then I read in the encyclopedia That what our eyebrows do for us Is keep our eyes more safe from sweat and dust So that is the purpose of my eyebrows But clearly it is not the only one And I love how some are thick or thin Or black or brown or blonde Or long or short or curly Or whatever form they come Fuzzy fuzzy little strips of hair Now I know why it is you’re there Like two islands stranded in the middle of the sea Which is my face So that is the purpose of my eyebrows But clearly it is not the only one And I love how some are thick or thin Or black or brown or blonde Or long or short or curly Or whatever form they come

What’s gonna happen today? I really don’t know What’s gonna happen today? I really don’t know I might think that I’m gonna do the things that I think I’ll do And I might think that I’m gonna go to the places that I think I’m gonna go But what’s really gonna happen today I just don’t know I didn’t know that a cloud would pass by looking just like a slice of lemon meringue pie And I didn’t know that I would draw a picture of a black-bellied shark taking a nap in the dark And I didn’t know that I’d laugh for half an hour when my friend pretended that she was a piece of cauliflower And I didn’t know that I’d write this song for you Oh, I didn’t know that I’d feel something warm and fuzzy in my heart just as the day began to start And I didn’t know that I’d water the grass with a tear that needed to fall down No, I didn’t know that I’d say something to you that would make you so excited and fill you with delighted And I didn’t know that I’d sing this song with you So, what’s gonna happen today? I really don’t know What’s gonna happen today? I really don’t know I might think that I’m gonna do the things that I think I’ll do And I might think that I’m gonna go to the places that I think I’m gonna go But what’s really gonna happen today I just don’t know And I like it that way

If you are an animal the poop comes out The poop comes out and it falls on the ground If you are an animal the poop comes out Of your butt and it falls on the ground Then the rain and bugs come and break it down They break it down so it mixes with the dirt Then the rain and bugs come and break it down So it mixes in with the dirt Now the soil is richer and the plants can grow The plants that the animals need to eat Now the soil is richer and the plants can grow So the animals can eat Cycle of Life, you’re so amazing Cycle of Life, you’ve got me celebrating All of those things that I thought were gross Well it turns out that they deserve A hardy toast

Me 04:13
I got a little place in me that keeps me warm It’s got a wink and a smile mm hmm I got a little place in me that keeps me warm And the door is always open I got a little place in me that keeps me warm It likes to sing and breathe And I know, yes I know it’s there I got a place inside of me that sees so well That everyone is in the same sailboat I got a place inside of me that sees so well That we are all just dancing rainbows I got a place inside of me that speaks so well The language of the ancient trees And I know, yes I know this place is me Do you know this place? Yes I’m sure you do It’s a part of me and it’s a part of you Oh, do you know this place? Yes I’m sure you do It will never part It’s in your heart And beneath this dusty shoe I’ve got a little place in me that falls in love With the really big buttons on a winter coat I’ve got a little place in me that like to laugh When I hear the word impossible I’ve got a little place in me that tells me when I need to wiggle and a jiggle like a Boogleeboo And I know, yes I know this place is me I got a place inside of me that picks me up When a wave comes and knocks me over I got a place inside of me that holds me tight While everything else comes and goes I got a place inside of me that doesn’t care If everybody stops to stare And I know, yes I know it’s there Do you know this place? Yes I’m sure you do It’s a part of me and it’s a part of you Oh, do you know this place? Yes I’m sure you do It will never part It’s in your heart And beneath this dusty shoe Do you know this place? Yes I’m sure you do It’s a part of me and it’s a part of you Oh, do you know this place? Yes I’m sure you do It will never part It’s in your heart And beneath this dusty shoe I got a little place in me that keeps me warm But it’s actually not so little

Yeah! Yeah! I love to pet a dog I love to pet a dog I love to draw a picture Of a weird lookin’ creature And on a special day, you just might find me Making a hula skirt out of grass I love to climb a tree I love to climb a tree And see what I can see Ants crawling on my knee And on a special day, you just might find me Practicing walking like a crab Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

A Normal Day 02:06
It’s just a normal day I’ve nothing in particular to say I’m feelin’ all right and ok It’s just a normal day My sister’s sitting on the couch Her shoulders are in a slouch She’s reading a book which makes her look a little bit like a grouch But she’s not, she’s just fine. Oh the telephone’s ringing The radios’ singing And someone is makin’ a snack The neighbors are playing The laundry is swaying and suddenly I have a rhythm attack Pots and pans Bottles and can Banana flute A stomping boot Oh zipper jam The soft lullaby of a door going slap I’m playin’ sweet tunes On my magical spoons All together now! “LESLEY!!” I’ts just a normal day I think it’s time for quiet play I’ll sing this in a very soft way It’s just a normal day

There’s a chicken On a tuba On a ten foot trampoline Thinking about a t-shirt Singing an opera song There’s a cat On a diamond On the doorknob of a dungeon Doing some disco dancing singing an opera song Well I guess it’s just one of those musical moments There’s a fly On the telephone On the tire of a truck Twirling in a turquoise tu-tu singing an opera song There’s a turtle On the toilet In a tower Made of tom toms Trying to read his tea cup singing an opera song Well I guess it’s just one of those musical moments There’s a me And a you And whomever else would like to Sharing our voices freely singing this opera song

I need a hug sometimes, sometimes I need a hug sometimes And if you need a hug from me I've got one waiting for you Oh oh, la da dat dah Oh oh, la dat dat dah Everyone needs a hug sometimes Everyone needs a hug sometimes So always keep a hug in your pocket In case you meet someone who needs it Oh, oh, la da dat dah Oh, oh, la dat dat dah...

A Purple Hat 00:43
I much prefer to look at the world from under my purple hat It makes everything feel like a secret and yes a quite magical secret at that I’ll stare at you with sparkles and dew dancing inside of my eyes and you will be thinking of elephants blinking and strawberry chocolate pies Oh what a lovely thing it is to skip up to a tree and lift my hat up when I meet a friendly bumblebee So if you’re feeling plippety-plop and you’d like to feel zippity-zoo you might want to try on a purple-y hat or at least one that’s orange and blue

When I jump into my bed And the sheets have goosebumps I just wiggle, wiggle, wiggle… Cause my poor bed is oh so cold It needs me to warm it So I wiggle, wiggle, wiggle… Wiggle. Wiggle. Wiggle. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. Wiggle, wiggle. If I’m turning into an icicle I jump on my invisible bicycle And I pedal, pedal, pedal… Cause I’m protector of my knees I’m not gonna let them freeze So I pedal, pedal, pedal… Pedal. Pedal. Pedal. Pedal, pedal, pedal. Pedal, pedal. Oh it’s the Cold Bed Cure We’re raisin’ up the temperature Oh it’s the Cold Bed Cure It’s gonna get warm in here for sure It’s the Cold Bed Cure We’re raisin’ up the temperature Oh it’s the Cold Bed Cure! When I feel that shivery shake It’s time for a vertebrae earthquake And I wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. I’m not gonna go to sleep Counting all them blue-lipped sheep So I pedal, pedal, pedal. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. Pedal, pedal, pedal. Wiggle, pedal, wiggle, pedal Wedal, piggle, wedal, piggle… Oh it’s the Cold Bed Cure…(chorus)

The Backpack 04:40
I’ve been carrying a backpack All day long with me Gathering some amazing things That I happened to see First I’ll pull out this feather It is very light Feathers’ help the birds to stay warm And help them to control their flight Oh ooo, ooo You know the whole world is a treasure chest Yeah, ooo, ooo And everything has got its own cool story So let’s keep exploring this backpack ‘cause it sure is interesting Here’s a heavy fist-sized Pink and white and black speckled thing It’s a rock called Granite Made from Earth’s magma core Pushing up to the surface of the Earth But hardening before it gets there [chorus] [whistle over one full verse chords] ohh, yes this treasure chest is filled with such beauty filled with creatures like Giant Flying Foxes and Sea Cucumbers, and Stick-bugs and bioluminescent microorganisms But let’s get back to this backpack ‘cause I’ve got one more treat this one you can find in the trees and you can find them at your feet It is brown and prickly And filled with lots of seeds Yes I’m talkin’ bout a pine cone They are how we get new pine trees [chorus 2x] And that’s why, that’s why, that’s why… It’s so great to take care of the Earth That’s why… I love to recycle and compost That’s why… I love to grow my own food and share it with others… Hi there sweet pea, would you like to eat a sugarsnap pea from my garden? It tastes so much sweeter to share it with you sweetie…

Goodnight, little baby, goodnight Goodnight, little baby, goodnight There are so many little ones sleeping right now won't you join them to dance in the clouds There are people and puppies and emu and elephants taking a moment to rest With the peacocks and swordfish and antelopes and all the puffy young chicks in their nest So goodnight little baby, goodnight Goodnight little baby, goodnight You are perfect exactly the way that you are partly angel and partly bizarre And the rhythm that falls from the sky through your toes is a mystery nobody knows But we do know that love is the most precious thing and it's love for you that makes me sing So goodnight little baby, goodnight goodnight little baby, goodnight Goodnight fluffy chickens, goodnight puffy kittens, goodnight giant whales in the sea Let's wink to the moon and set down the bassoon as the wind does it's dance with the trees All the twinkling stars, and the martians on mars have sent kisses to bid you bonne oui

Welcome to the music of Lesley & the Flying Foxes. We make music that celebrates life and learning and silliness! Some of the songs are wild, some are gentle, some have that big band swing feel, and others are more folky.
